Chad attended Ribidoux High School in Riverside where he was a NSCAA All American, Parade All America Selection and as a high school senior, Parade's Best Defender. Not so coincidentally, he was rated as the top college soccer recruit in the country by Soccer America. NATS FACE BRAZIL SUNDAY FOR CONFEDERATIONS CUP TITLE!
In a stunning upset, the U.S. Men's National Team shut out No. 1 FIFA ranked Spain 2 - 0 in the semi-finals of the FIFA Confederations Cup on Wednesday in South Africa. The U.S. win sets up a re-match with pool peer Brazil on Sunday. Prior to Wednesday's loss, Spain hadn't lost since 2006 and had a 35 game win streak broken.
Striker Alumni Benny Feilhaber ('03) set up the second goal on a sweet thru ball to Landon Donovan who promptly served up a nice cross to Clint Dempsey to finish. Jonathan Bornstein ('02) subbed on late in the second half to help preserve the shutout.
As an organization, the Irvine Strikers are proud to have had a hand in both of these player's development and have no shame in making the claim that no other club nationally, and certainly not locally, have two former players playing in this event.
