STRIKER ECNL TEAMS ARE 9- 2 - 4 ON THE WEEKEND!

Former Striker FC/Irvine Strikers player Joe Sofia Jr. (2010) and College Academic All American was featured this week in a UCLA Faculty Newsletter, highlighting his achievements on and off the field.

Sofia, a member of the Irvine Strikers from U13 - U19, won a U.S. Club Soccer National Championship at U14 and was a three year participant in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Program where he co-captained his Striker Academy teams.

(Effective Tuesday, February 26)

What follows is the new training schedule and Spring developmental approach for the Striker FC - Irvine teams:

Beginning March 19 (and continuing through May), teams from U-9 through U-14 for both genders have the opportunity to play futsal every Tuesday and Thursday night at Oak Creek park from 6:00-7:30pm.

Coaches will be in attendance but our intent is to have our players just show up and play for 90 minutes.

These weekday futsal sessions are not mandatory but we do want to offer players the option to continue to play and train after their State and National Cup is completed.  We have decided to play these two and half months of futsal in lieu of playing the six SCDSL Spring League games.

Continuing.... the new training schedule starting Tuesday -  February 26 at Oak Creek Park:

6:00-7:30:  All teams still competing in State and National Cup

7:30-9:00pm:  

Boys 15 (Chingarian)
Boys 16 (Fuller)
Boys 13 (Martinez)

March 19-May 31:

6:00-7:30:  Youngers Futsal as per above.
7:30-9:00:  Boys 15 and 16

As always, training sessions will be held contingent on the field being open and playable in the event of inclement weather.

Please contact your team administrator and/or the City of Irvine Mudline if there is any question whether a training session will be held or not.

Strikers FC Technical Staff

Matt Locklear, a current member of the Strikers FC U17- 18 Development Academy team, recently verballed to Coach Kevin Grimes and the Cal Berkeley program as part of  CAL's  2014 Signing Class.   Matt has been in the Striker FC organization since U12 and is a two year participant of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. He has also competed in the prestigeous Milk Cup in Ireland.

Matt , currently a junior at Northwood High School in Irvine, despite the demands of competing at the elite level, maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average in school.
