NEW YEAR - SAME OLD STORY

     STORIES OF OUR ALUMNI SUCCESSES THAT IS!

Mikey Hoyos, an 18 year old former ISC player who delivered our U.S. Club Soccer National Championship in 2006 by cracking a game winning goal over the Chicago Magic, was recently called up to his current club's first team,  Estudiantes de la Plata.   Estudiantes, based in Buenos Aires, competes against the likes of River Plate and Boca Juniors in the Argentine Primera Division, the top league in Argentina.

Tiana Kallenberger, a 2009 University High graduate, who played for Irvine Strikers GU19 Premier team, picked up a pair of trophies at the conclusion of Division I Women's Soccer season in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference (CAA). Tiana, who plays for George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, was named to the All CAA Rookie Team and 3rd Team All CAA. A
forward. Tiana scored 9 goals and 8 assists for 26 points, ranking second on the team. Tiana was one of only three players from GMU to receive All CAA awards. In addition to the two All CAA awards, earlier she was also awarded the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week September 14 and the September Student Athlete of the Month!

D.C United Player and 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year Finalist Chris Pontious, (2005), was called up to his very first National Team Camp by U.S. Men's National Team Coach Bob Bradley. The camp, which commences January 4th, is part of a thirty player combine and is being held in preparation for a January 23rd friendly versus Honduras at the Home Depot Center.
